Friends of Colzium

 

 

Friends of Colzium is a group of volunteers working together to develop and enhance the facilities available to the Community within the Colzium Lennox Estate , Kilsyth.

 

The group meets monthly on the first Wednesday of each month in the Old Library, 8 Burngreen, Kilsyth from 7.00 to 9.00 pm.

 

On site activities take place monthly within the Estate or more frequently depending on the nature of the project.

 

Current projects currently being tackled by the group include:

 

·        Maintenance of flower beds ( in conjunction with Land Services)

·        Clearance of dead material from the Arboretum and construction of informal paths through the woods

·        Provision and maintenance of hanging baskets and planters around the Café and Visitors Centre

·        Maintenance of pathways

·        Assisting with the organization of Open Days within Colzium House

·        Production of leaflets and maps showcasing the history of the Estate

·        Working in partnership with North Lanarkshire Council to promote the Estate and enhance the facilities available to the local Community and Visitors

·        Working with Summerlee Museum to ensure that local historical artifacts are traced, catalogued and stored safely.

 

The group is open to all ages and anyone who has an interest in the living landscape and/or  the history and development of Estate is most welcome to join.
