Kilsyth Community Council
Colzium House, Built in 1873 for Archibald Edmonstone. The House stands on the Colzium Lennox Estate in Kilsyth
The historic burgh of Kilsyth is situated in the heart of Central Scotland. The town economy has shifted over the past three centuries from handloom weaving and mining to light engineering, transport and service industries. Kilsyth has considerable historical significance due to its strategic position on one of the main routes through Central Scotland and is the site of one of the largest battles fought on Scottish soil. There are also links to the Roman colonisation of Britain and the Jacobite uprisings. Framed by the Kilsyth Hills to the North, the Dumbreck nature reserve to the west, the magnificent Colzium Estate to the East and the Forth and Clyde canal to the South, Kilsyth is a superb destination from which to explore Central Scotland and beyond.
